Jennifer Hines and Heidi Skok
contraltos
The Contralto Perspective is a vocal duo created by Metropolitan Opera veterans Jennifer Hines and Heidi Skok.
More than thirty years after first performing together in concert, these two artists reunite through their shared connection to the rare and richly expressive contralto voice. This collaboration explores the unique beauty and sonic depth of two low female voices performing together. Their programs feature a wide range of repertoire—from classical and art song to opera and Broadway—alongside thoughtfully curated arrangements that highlight the warmth, resonance, and dramatic power of the contralto range, pairing a lyric contralto with a dramatic contralto.
Drawing on decades of experience performing on many of the world’s great stages, including the Metropolitan Opera, Hines and Skok bring a shared commitment to storytelling, musical depth, and vocal color to this project.
Through The Contralto Perspective, the duo offers audiences a fresh and compelling sonic landscape—one in which two contralto voices blend, contrast, and converse in repertoire rarely heard in this configuration.
Their performances celebrate the richness of the lower female voice and invite listeners to experience beloved music from a new vantage point: The Contralto Perspective.
